Two days ago, Renae hit 18 months.
I'm still in shock.
Two weeks ago, Micah hit 2 months.
Crazy? I think so.
It may be the age, it may be the new brother, it's probably both...but this little lady sure knows how to make a racket and put up a fuss. Fortunately, most of the time she's also still the sweet, thoughtful little girl we've always known. She's grown attached to a particular blanket, and will frequently want it draped over her shoulders for her. And she loves her daddy...most especially since Micah's been around and she can't have her Mama's undivided attention just any time she wants. Nursing puts a damper on that demand, unfortunately for her.
Her hair is growing at the weirdest pace. She's got a sweet toddler mullet...but I can't bear to cut off any of those sweet little curls...after all, they make the cutest curly piggy tails.
She can point out most body parts, do the actions for "Wheels on the Bus" and point and say "dat" to anything and EVERTYHING she wants. Her newest word is "peez" (please) and I'm pretty sure that her Daddy and I would give her the world if she asked for it and said "peez" like she does.
Her newest hobby is pulling a chair over to the sink or counter whenever I'm doing anything in the kitchen...and playing in whatever she can get her hands on. We bake and wash dishes together a lot...whether I like it or not...Ha!...and most of the time I like it.
Most of the time...

I remember having to pull out all the stops to get Renae to smile a little. She made us work for it, and how. Micah, on the other hand, grins at the first "hi!" and doesn't stop until your face is sore from grinning back at him. But you'll almost always see his eyes smile before it reaches his little mouth.
He has eyes that tell you stories.

Renae and Micah are buds. Already. Renae frequently uses him as her personal pillow, and Micah doesn't seem to mind one bit. Despite all indignation at less attention, Renae hasn't taken it out on Micah. She kisses and hugs and lays on his tummy...and saves the screaming and swatting for her mom.
Thank goodness.
Micah started off big, and hasn't quit. He's started outgrowing his three month clothes and has started into his 6-month stuff. And he has rolls on his rolls. Seriously.
Micah will sit and watch Renae and I run around in front of him, doing this and that, for ages. I have to consciously remember to change it up for him because he's pretty content to just hang out and watch the little toddler-mom circus we've got going on.
It's been a crazy couple months, but kind of unforgettable in a really, really good way.
And I hear it only gets better...
:)

It's like the second one just knows how much you need a content baby. Thank goodness for that!
