When Darren Met Laura

Darren and Laura went from met to married in five and a half months.

Before you go thinking that's ridiculous, they promise you that you will be right if you do.
But the good kind of ridiculous. Like IKEA at 90% off...that kind of so-awesome-it's ridiculous.

Anyways.

Laura first heard Darren's name when a cousin of hers came back from a fun weekend in another city. I met this guy named Darren Roberts. He was cool, really nice! Made me feel welcome when I didn't know anyone at this party.  And that was the end...until Laura decided to go sell pest control door-to-door in Baltimore, Maryland, USA for the summer. Turns out this Darren guy was, too. Once Laura's cousin had heard the news, she reminded Laura of this rad Darren that she had met: he was going to Baltimore, too! And he was rad! And they should date! And fall in love! And get married! And here, I'll show you who he is on Facebook!

Now Darren will maintain that this meant Laura creeped him on Facebook to scope him out. Laura will tell you that she was humoring a cousin and was dating someone else at the time, and was not interested, just had fun laughing about it for her couz. And Laura would be right.  :)

The time finally arrived for all pest-control sales-persons to head out to Baltimore. Laura was no longer dating anyone, and both Darren and Laura had determined plans to avoid any relationships over the summer and focus on working hard and making money.

A few weeks before leaving-time, Laura randomly received a text from a Darren Roberts asking if he could caravan out with her and her OTHER cousin because it was a long drive and he was driving alone. Laura would tell you that this was Darren's attempt to connect with her before they got to Baltimore so he could have the "in." Darren will tell you that he just randomly got her number from their boss because their boss knew they knew they would be heading down to Maryland at the same time, no ulterior motives. This time, Darren would be right.

The night before they were supposed to leave, Laura and her cousin discovered that they would have to wait an extra day before heading to the USofA...thus leaving this Darren character in a lurch for caravan-ing buddies. She felt bad, but knew her and this Darren guy would be at the same party that night: she could apologize in person and make sure that he had someone to travel down with. Darren would tell you that she made the first move by boldly coming up and introducing herself first, hitting on him when he was there with another lady, even! Laura would tell you that she had a friend point him out so she could make sure he was okay for the trip down despite ditching him last-minute, no ulterior motives, just being a nice person. And Laura is SOO right on this one, no matter what Darren says!

Once they got to Baltimore, selling was in full-swing. Darren and Laura didn't fall in love at first sight, but enjoyed hanging out with each other and the other people they worked with. Within a couple weeks, however, they had caught each other's eye. She was impressed with his hard work. He liked her sparkly green eyes. He decided to ask her on a date to get some ice cream. And from that point on he just knew this was going somewhere. Now to convince Laura...

It didn't take too long.

From the first date on, they were inseparable. They started dating the beginning of May, got engaged mid-July, and married mid-September. Laura, the girl who swore she'd never get married so fast...and Darren, the boy who was determined to be verrrrry careful when it came to wife-selection....found something special in each other, and jumped in with both feet.

La-dee-dah, The End.

Let the adventure begin!
