In the Summatime

I started out writing this post as a poem...and then I gave up.

Everything's a little foggy...I'm sitting here with my mouth hanging open because I can't breathe through my nose...(LOVE allergies; they're the BEST.)...and I'm almost drooling.
I am crediting my current state of uber-attractiveness and sharp-as-tack coherence to a chubby little boy who's getting his top two teeth in and sleeping terribly...and the fact that I'm still recovering from the youth dance last night. We just party hard like that.

So maybe this update will be intelligible. Maybe it won't.
Good thing there's pictures to fill in the gaps.

Summers are crazy.
CRAZY AWESOME.

By Day:
Darren works hard at his landscaping day job. Justin (Darren's bro, currently living with us) works hard at his irrigation job. And me, Renae, and Micah get to party like it's summertime. Our days usually include bubbles and chalk and parks and walks...often a visit from a Grandma or a Heather. Sometimes Daniel comes over to play. Sometimes we go play in lakes. At the end of the day, we're aaaallll tuckered out.

By Night:
The usual? Darren scans film into the computer. Darren and Justin get lost in episodes of Prison Break. We all eat good food. We all tickle and giggle with the babies. I often run away with the car to grocery shop, or drive in circles around the block just to feel the freedom of a vehicle...because we don't have one during the day. Micah and Renae go to bed too late. Sometimes, Darren has a photo shoot. Sometimes I have rehearsal for Cinderella, the musical I'm in at the UofC this September (Wanna come? Let me know! Tickets are $15) where I get to sing my heart out. Sometimes we have meetings for our church callings: Elder's Quorum for Darren, Primary for me. Sometimes we have friends or family over for dinner. Sometimes I fold laundry.

By Weekend:
We've been playing...as hard as we can! Last weekend we got to play with our Internet Friends, these guys...who we, in fact, met and became friends with online by a mutual love for film photography and blog-stalking. True story! We went out to the mountains and walked and laughed and talked and ate food on rocks beside crisp mountain water.
This past weekend we had a family temple day in Cardston...then left our babies with their Grandma and Grandpa Lonsdale and raced (safely?) back to Calgary for a youth dance. Our other calling is as the Stake Dance Managers...where we get to go to the monthly regional youth dance as perma-chaperones, and occasionally oversee the organization of a dance when our stake is in charge. Best...calling...ever.
Next weekend we will be at the Roberts' Family Reunion...immediately followed by the Mendenhall family reunion. Also coming up this summer will be another camping trip or two, weddings to photograph, and family pictures to take (OURS! We are in dire need.)

Loved the impromptu visit from these guys!

SO EXCITED to see Wicked. Birthday presents to us!

Okay, that was me -- Dixie -- but for some reason Carly's name keeps coming up the last few times I've tried to do anything. Grrr.
