Official Last.

This week is the Official Last before Darren starts school again. Which means is the Official Last of summer, as we currently know it. Boooooo.

Sure, I'll still be playing in water and parks with the babies. Sure the weather will still be warm (ya hear that, weather? Still be warm.) and the days will still be long enough to smile about....but there's something about the new binders, the seriousness that creases Darren's brow, and the smell of new loose-leaf paper that whittles away at my determination to pretend summer's not over yet.
Then Fall will just get me all giggly with those leaves and scarves and squash and snuggles. And then I'll let go...a little reluctantly...of sweet, sweet summer.

But for now, we are cramming whatever we can into this last week of August.
Seriously, it's a little ridiculous.

It includes everything from sending a certain missionary brother off....to starting new tutoring jobs...to getting together with friends and family before they get back to school-related work....and seeing a beloved aunt get married. We are busy and happy and crazy. Much crazy.

And so, with as much gusto as we can muster...we are trying to make sure summer doesn't forget us.

Hope your Official Last weeks of summer are unforgettable ones, too.
Eat peaches! Throw water balloons! Lay in soft, green grass.

...And definitely lick spilled smoothie off the pavement.
